| 05:21 pm - Awwwww I've been having alot of problems with Firefox Lately. Well not problems, as such. I just don't think it likes this computer.
Every time i go on it, i usually have to click on it twice before it actually works. When it does decide to work, it doesn't respond for some really weird reason. It has only been doing this Since i got My New computer! </a> I don't think that Samsung like alot of products like that.
I'm using internet explorer 8 now. I'm considering uninstalling it. It's a bit of a pity though, since it has Web Visum Whereas internet explorer doesn't.
Before i go, has anyone else experienced problems with firefox on a samsung computer with windows vista home premium?
Thanks for any suggestions!! Current Mood: curious

| 09:29 pm - Uninstalling Avast!!! I recently decided to uninstall Avast!! From my computer. When i do this however, it says "There was an error during uninstallation", then it has the "Finish" button. It's still installed. I've looked on the website, and there is an uninstallation tool, but you have to run windows in "Safe mode". Apparently, I wouldn't be able to do this on my own though.
Do any of you know how i could uninstall Avast?
Thanks. Current Mood: curious

| 12:47 am - Archers Spoilers-28-4 July Oh god.......Is Jim staying forever? God...... Remember don't read this if you don't want to know what happens.
Tasters As Summer kicks in and the sun shines down, things warm up in Ambridge this week. Alan keeps the home fires burning while Usha's away, but Shula ignites his fire and there's a heated discussion to be had on Usha's return. Meanwhile, Jim gets a lukewarm reception on his arrival and Shula reaches boiling point soon after. Having got hot under the collar after losing Susan's bowl, a blushing Clarrie has a break through and Susan's fiery temper is appeased. Lilian struggles to keep her cool while Matt continues to give her the cold shoulder. Bathing in gin with ice and a slice might help, but Lilian is too consumed by despair to pour herself a drink - blimey, things must be bad! Vicky meanwhile, hots up her wedding outfit with a plunging neckline, to which Brenda's response is positively icy. But is Vicky's warm personality enough to melt even the hardest of hearts? I wouldn't bank on it! So as the temperature rises come into the cool and turn on the radio. It's The Archers!
Jim comes to town on Friday and Matt finally breaks his silence.
Sunday: Alan pleads ignorance Monday: Brenda does her duty Tuesday: Puss pines on Wednesday: Alistair has second thoughts Thursday: Kenton makes plans Friday: Shula keeps calm
Enjoy!!! More next week!!!! Current Mood: happy

| 03:18 am - A Not So Accessible Public Transport Network? Here's the article that i talked about needing to write in This Post last week. Well it's a draft anyway. I thought i'd put it up here anyway. Let me know what you think. I can't be bothered putting it behind a cut. Enjoy!!!! Please give me any feedback you have.
A NOT SO ACCESSIBLE PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK?
The next time you go to get on a bus or train, think about how lucky you are. You have readily available time tables, and you can tell just by looking at the front of a bus exactly where it is going.
Now, imagine what it would be like if you are blind or visually impaired.....
Everyone dreams of independence, don't they? Well part of becoming independent is travel. So how exactly does one travel independently when they want to use public transport? Well it can be done, but it is a bit of a challenge sometimes.
Picture this: you are waiting for a bus at a local bus stop, and there are a lot of busses that have just pulled in. What do you do? This is the dilemma faced by thousands of visually impaired people every day. If you have some vision, you might be able to see where the busses are going to, but what if you're totally blind? Do you risk embarrassing yourself and getting on every bus to ask "Where does this bus go to?" or "Could I go to such and such"?
I don't think many of us would like to do this to be honest. I know I wouldn't. So what's the answer?
Well you just have to hope that someone will be willing to help you get on the right bus. Often people will be happy to help you, if you need it. Some bus stations tell you what platform or "Stand" to go to. This is great, but there are that many busses that arrive, it makes it hard to locate what bus is what, because they all have their engines running, which makes them all sort of meld together. Plus, you have the added trouble of actually getting to that "Stand" that is for your particular bus. You could always ask a member of staff to wait with you, but this will not always happen, so you just have to hope that someone will be kind enough to get you on the right one.
Once you are on the required bus, it probably doesn't get any easier. You have absolutely no verbal announcements at all. You just have to hope that the driver won't change half way through your journey. If they do change, you have to hope that the other driver has bothered to say that there is someone with a visual impairment on the bus.
You could always memorise your stops along the way, but if it is a long journey, this could get tiring. Plus, the bus could go a different route, or there could be road works.
The best option seems to be on a train. The trains don't seem to come as often as busses do. Plus there is only one train at a time that can come to a platform. It will be much easier to find the right train this way.
Trains usually don't change drivers half way through the journey which is good. Plus there are far less stops on a train than a bus. Also, before you get to a station, there is an announcement telling you what station it is coming up to, then what stops are after that.
The only thing you have to worry about is if you have to change trains, or when getting on and off, is the gap between the platform and the train. However this isn't as bad as it was before the new trains were introduced. Plus, there will always be someone who will be available to help!!!!!
It's not all doom and gloom however. Many visually impaired people use busses far more than trains. But remember, just consider how others will have to plan their journeys, and the amount of effort that is involved for a visually impaired persons' quest for independent travel. Current Mood: glad i've finished

 | 02:08 am - Archers Spoilers-21-26 June Matt is such a bastart!!!!!! Doesehe realise what he is putting Lillian through? Remember don't read if you don't want to know what happens.
Tasters Matt’s driving Lilian wild with worry this week as he zooms around the countryside. We suspect Matt is going to met by something far worse than road rage when he returns to Ambridge! Still, his absence encourages Jennifer to take a pit stop at Lilian’s and at least they manage to resolve their differences. Meanwhile, Brenda is shocked by the way Mike is speeding into his relationship with Vicky. It’s full blast for Mike, but Brenda sees signs which cause her concern – could Vicky be after Mike’s cash? Such signs are merely a blur to Mike who is rapidly rolling down the road of lurve and could even beat his daughter to the church! Let’s just hope it doesn’t end in a crash! Clarrie covers a lot of ground this week as her search for Susan’s bowl gains momentum, while Neil attempts to get more funding before he has to pull out of the race completely. So turn on your engines and get ready, set, go!… It’s The Archers!
Don’t miss Friday when Lilian has something to say...
Sunday: Susan’s bowled over Monday: Mike makes a date Tuesday: Jennifer to the rescue! Wednesday: Clarrie continues the hunt Thursday: Neil gets a ‘no’ Friday: Lilian has had enough Enjoy!!!! More next week!!! Current Mood: happy

| 05:18 pm - Thank God!!! Remember How Annoying Windows Live messenger was being? Well i think i've got it sorted.
There is an anti virus program that was preinstalled on this computer called Mcafee Which I cannot get rid of for some reason. Well i probably could, but I don't want to take the risk. Especially after I did that last year at christmas time, and had to restore the laptop to its factory settings. This was the old laptop by the way.
Well Macafee was being a pain in the arse. There was a little window that seemed to appear to allow access to Windows Live. I didn't know it existed though, as JAWS didn't tell me that it was there. Grrrrrr!!!!
At least i've got it sorted now though thank god.
Off to try and make a start on that transport article. Current Mood: geeky

| 12:51 am - Magazine Article Help In my journal, i have wrote about This Group Well on the 24th of June, which is next Wednesday, they are having a meeting type thing. They have asked everyone to write a 500 word article about anything we like, as long as it is related to visual impairment. It is for a magazine article they are producing.
Can anyone please suggest anything i could write? I was thinking about the lack of accessible books, but i'm not sure if that would be 500 words, and i'm not sure how to start it either.
Get any suggestions right along this way!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!! Current Mood: slightly stressed

| 11:34 pm - ECDL level 1 Remember when I started The GCSE English and The GCSE Maths I said that i was doing them because i was going to do the national Deploma In Health and Social Care? Well i've decided not to do this this year.
Since I have done That Computer Course Back in March, I'm thinking of doing a computer related qualification.
I have decided to do The ECDL Level one qualification instead. I'm still trying to work out if this change is a good one though.
I will start on the 15th of September. It will be on a Tuesday night.
Now, what to do during the day time.... Current Mood: Curious as to what i will do during the day time for next year

| 02:16 am - Eye Matter Activity Day Remember A couple of weeks ago I was telling you about an activity day that was planned as part of The Eye Matter Group? Well on Thursday we went to the Belfast Activity centre For our day out.
We met there at about 10 o'clock, where we met our instructors, and got prepared for the first activity, which was Caving. This involved going through an artificial cave, which was based on a real cave. This was really enjoyable, and great fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In there, i also got to feel a Stalac Tite!! Although it was fake. A real one had started to form where there was a waterfall, which unfortunately, I couldn't touch, since it was just forming. They felt awsum!!!!!!!
After the caving, we had lunch.
Next, we were climbing.
We started with a course called the "Vertical Challenge", which consists of a structure that swings continuesly back and forth. We were strapped into harnesses though!!!!!! There was a log that you had to get on to first, by swinging both legs up, so you were practically sitting on it, then there was a pole with pegs on it, which were for your feet.
After climbing up this, you had to climb up a Cargo net made of ropes.
Next, was another log, two tyres which spun, and another log at the top.
I only managed to get to the top of the Cargo net, as it seemed way too complicated to climb that log where the tyres were. It was still good though!!!!!
Finally it was a thing called the "Leap Of Faith", which involved first of all climbing a ladder, then climbing a pole with blocks on it, rotating yourself round each way, and the getting on to this board and jumping off, and catching a trepese. I was just about to get on to the board, so i sat down in the harness, and wrapped my legs around the pole, to get on, when i randomly started swinging down!!!! It was a bit disappointing though. Maybe next time i can get to the top.
It was a great day!!!!!!!!! The best part had to be the Caving!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Current Mood: extremely Energetic

| 12:43 am - Archers Spoilers-14-19 June These look really interesting this week!!!!! I can't wait to see what happens. Remember, don't read if you don't want to know what happens.
Tasters Romance blooms for Mike, Brenda and Tom are still in lurve and Jack's birthday plans are coming together. Will Clarrie win first prize for her floral display? Will Susan get her fruit bowl back? It's a week for answers - with some surprises along the way. The recession hits Ambridge bringing depression to the Carters and despair to Eddie who can't get a job. Luckily Home Farm has Debbie with a cunning plan for Borchester Land, and Bridge Farm has Helen, who is working harder than ever to save the family crock of gold. We know which girl we'd back! Good old Jazzer woos Annette with a bright idea to make a fast buck and is surprised at the results. Will he ever learn? But it's Matt and Lilian who pluck the heart strings this week. Lilian's had enough but she should have heeded our warning: never remove the top of a pressure cooker while it's still simmering! Want to know what happens? Switch on the radio and sit back. It's The Archers.
Don't miss Thursday's nail-biting episode and follow up the repercussions on Friday!
Sunday: Plinth Christopher? Monday: Flowers and fruit bowls Tuesday: Tom splashes out Wednesday: Jazzer is on top form Thursday: Melt down for Matt Friday: Mike has stars in his eyes
Enjoy!!!!! More next week!!! Current Mood: happy

I have a Samsung laptop, with Windows vista Home premium, or whatever way you say that.
Please please help!!!!!!!!!!!
By teh way, i have to restart the whole systim then once it doesn't respond. The "Windows Live mail" option works perfectly.
