It's here, well not exactly, it's tomorrow. What is this i'm talking about? Well if ya don't know, it's Blogging Against Disablism Day.
I posted about this a few days ago. I'm just reminding you to make sure that you post tomorrow. I've decided to do my post for this today. So anyway here goes...
I'm not sure if this can be counted as disablism, but i'll post it anyway. This is only what i can remember about the event.
It was my 9th birthday. Mum had taken me and my sister out for the day. The day was great. We went shopping and got lots of stuff. On the way back, however, it was a different story. We were getting the train. It came and i was about to step on to it, when my foot slipped down the gap between the platform and the train. I wasn't hurt, but very shaken. Mum made a complaint to the train company, and they appologised.
It was only later after this horrible experience, that i learnt exactly how big the gap was. Apparently, the gap was about 5 inches from the platform. I think this is disgraceful. I could have ended up very seriously hurt. What if it had been someone in a wheelchair? Someone with a mobility problem? Someone who wasn't steady on their feet? Because of that incidant, i now dread getting on and off trains.
I think this was discrimination. They new i was blind because my mum told them.

| 11:24 pm - Blogging Against Disablism Day-What Is It?
Hi. In my post yesterday (24 april), i posted a banner for Blogging Against Disablism Day (although i kind of spelt it wrong, oops). I thought i'd explain a little about what this is...
Blogging Against Disablism Day (BAD), happens on the 1st May (that's this Tuesday!!!!!). It's where bloggers, whether disabled or not, talk about discrimination, ablism or disabilism.
